Mariah Carey Hospitalised

Mariah Carey has been hospitalised in the US to "extreme exhaustion."

According a statement posted on the star's official website at www.mariahcaryey.com, (July 27), Carey admitted herself into an unspecified hospital on Wednesday evening (July 25).

A heavy workload, working on two films while also recording a new album is cited as the reason.

The statement reads: "Mariah has been hospitalised for extreme exhaustion. After completing 2 movies, 'Glitter' and 'WiseGirls,' while simultaneously writing, recording and producing her newest album, the soundtrack 'Glitter,' Mariah checked herself into a hospital late last night."

Carey is also reported to have pulled out of a headline appearance at a forthcoming concert in New York to celebrate 20 years of MTV (August 1).

A spokesperson for her label, Virgin Records, was unavailable for comment.
