Drew and Tom Escape Fire

Actress Drew Barrymore and her comedian fiance Tom Green were awakened by their dog early Sunday in time to escape without injury a fire that gutted their Los Angeles hillside home.

"We're great," Barrymore told reporters at the scene. "Other than the fact that the home burned down," Green added as they drove away.

Their dog, Flossie, woke them up around 3:30 a.m. when she barked and "literally banged on their bedroom door," said Eddie Michaels, Barrymore's spokesman. Firefighters estimated damage at $700,000 to the two-story, 3,500-square-foot home north of Beverly Hills.
