Movie Review: 'Saving Silverman'

Save your silver dollar on Saving Silverman. This show bombed in a big way.

Saving Silverman is about these three best friends, Darren Silverman (Jason Biggs), Wayne (Steve Zhan) and J.D. (Jack Black), best friends since grade school who are Neil Diamond fanatics. In 'Saving Silverman,' Darren falls for the beautiful but over-bearing Judith (Amanda Peet), a bitchy, brutal, and cold–hearted psychiatrist. Darren's friends Wayne and J.D. despise Judith and decide to kidnap her in order to set up Darren with his high school crush, Sandy (Amanda Detmer).

'Saving Silverman' tried too hard to make people laugh and it flopped. OUCH! Joke after joke and barely a snicker from anyone, including me. It did have its moments, but in general 'Saving Silverman' is like a wet noodle.

Jason Biggs character Darren comes across more as a puppet than a character. He follows Judith around like a lost puppy and if she said heel he would do just that. This show was a terrible pick for Jason Biggs, hopefully 'American Pie 2' will redeem himself.

'Saving Silverman' mainly focused on Wayne and J.D.'s kidnapping of Judith; how they tie her up, how she gets away, and how she gets revenge. This was such a tiring plot and, unfortunately, the main focus of 'Saving Silverman.'

Dennis Dugan directed 'Saving Silverman' and because of that I was expecting a much better show. Dennis also directed 'Big Daddy' and 'Happy Gilmore,' two very comical movies that had the audience constantly laughing. I think Dennis' dim-witted twin directed 'Saving Silverman.'

I recommend that you avoid this show. It is a waste of time and I truly was bored out of my tree. I have seen a lot of dumb, stupid movies and 'Saving Silverman' is right on top.

This show wasted a lot of great talent, Jason Biggs, Amanda Peet and Amanda Detmer. I hope their next roles will be better.
