Britney Spears has signed to take her sugar pop style to the silver screen in a new coming-of-age movie.
The midriff-baring singer will make her feature film debut as a straight-A student who reunites with two former friends on a cross country road trip, her agent, Brian Swardstrom, said Wednesday.
The trio eventually competes in a musical contest, which supplies Spears' character with a chance to sing and dance.
The movie, tentatively known as ``The Untitled Britney Spears Project,'' will have a relatively low budget - by Hollywood standards - of $10 million, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
