'Popstars' Makes it's Debut
It's the Real World meets the Spice Girls in this new reality show that caters to every girl who wishes she could lip sync in front of thousands of people and make a video that features her belly button.
Based on a hit Australian series, "Popstars," debuting at tonight on the WB, starts out with thousands of girls auditioning in Chicago, New York, Atlanta, Miami, Los Angeles and Dallas (where things get really grim) for the chance to be part of the series.
The one-hour premiere episode is a study in mass neuroses as dozens of women with no talent whatsoever are shown facing off against more gifted counterparts in a sort of battle of the brazen egos.
Out of these thousands, the field is narrowed down to hundreds, and as weeks progress, a final five will emerge. These women will then be moved into a house and taught to do all the right moves by music-biz professionals.
