Kate Winslet Battles Weight
Kate Winslet has put herself on her first diet because she's scared she'll be too overweight to get another acting job.
The "Titanic" star has long campaigned against waif-like models and actresses starving themselves to win roles. But since the birth of her daughter Mia in October, she says she needs "to get a bit of the baby weight off or I won't work."
Winslet has also revealed that she was taunted by school bullies because of her size.
She says, "As a teenager I became shy because I was overweight. I weighed 13 stone (182 pounds/82 kilos) when I was 16. They called me blubber. I couldn't wear jeans because I looked like the end of a bus."
Now she is determined to ditch the post-natal pounds (kilos). She says of her diet regime, "It's so insane and bloody boring. I despise myself for it and feel I'm letting a lot of people down. I constantly wave the flag of 'Don't go on diets because they are rubbish.'"
"What annoys me most is that the more terribly thin and fit actresses we have the less real films become, which is sad. Thank God for the British ones. They don't care what shape you are."
