Alicia Silverstone Against Milk Ads

Don't bother asking animal activist Alicia Silverstone if she's "Got milk."

Silverstone has written to the Federal Trade Commission asking the agency to investigate health claims in the dairy industry's popular milk mustache ad campaign.

"I recently stopped consuming dairy products, in part because of all the information I learned about the harmful effects of cow's milk on human health," the actress wrote.

Copies of Silverstone's letter are being circulated by the Physician's Committee for Responsible Medicine, a Washington-based activist group.

The committee contends the ads are misleading because they don't mention possible side effects of drinking milk -- including increased risks of obesity and heart disease.

Silverstone is best known for the movie "Clueless" and can currently be seen in the movie "Love's Labour's Lost."
